What is Almaloy Aluminum?
Aluminum alloys are alloys in which aluminum is the predominant metal. Typical alloying elements are copper, zinc, manganese, silicon, and magnesium. Aluminum alloys are widely used in engineering structures and components where lightweight or corrosion resistance is required. Aluminum alloy surfaces will keep their apparent shine in a dry environment due to the formation of a clear, protective oxide layer. In a wet environment, galvanic corrosion can occur when an aluminum alloy is placed in electrical contact with other metals with a more negative corrosion potential than aluminum.
The Almaloy armature wire is coiled aluminum wire which is non-corrosive, lightweight, fully pliable, non-staining; economical. Weight and length is approximate. This product cannot be fired in a kiln.
The Almaloy armature wire is available in the following diameters and lengths:
97A:
1/16″ in diameter x 32 feet in length
(recommend as a wrapping wire or for small figures)
97B:
1/8″ in diameter x 2 feet in length
(recommended for figures up to 15″)
97C:
3/16″ in diameter x 1 feet in length
(recommended for busts and figures up to 24″)
97D:
1/4″ in diameter x 1 feet in length
(recommended for busts and figures up to 3 feet.)
97E:
3/8″ in diameter x 1 feet in length
(recommended for life-size figures)
As an option, you may want to contemplate our hand-made armatures for the head, head-bust; animal figure.
